From the city to the countryside, from noise to silence

A steadily unfolding mystery thriller which presents a patriarchic system consisting of working men and quiet, kind housewives in order to keep an apparently harmonic work-life balance intact. Any activity which produces the smallest amount of fun will be soon erased. Katharine Ross starring as the semi-professional photographer Joanna Eberhart embodies the horror in the idyllic Stepford very well while her profession captures the brief moments of happiness leaking out of the condescending cycle. It all culminates in a picture-perfect closing shot that works as an excellent summary of the small town’s disturbing perfection of the phrase “Keep calm and carry on” and the descent of Joanna’s mind.
